A brief extension of my awareness, possibly a quick spell to check for any malignant magical interference or contaminants on or about your person. Couple of minutes unless I find something, all you'll need to do is sit and wait.
If I find something that's not supposed to be there, I'll isolate it as best I can until I can settle on a remedy. Some things might be easy to deal with then and there, some might require specific spellwork. Without knowing the origin of the spell, I can't know in advance.
It's my job to know. I'm a Master of the Mystic Arts, whose duty it is to defend my world from magical and extradimensional threat.
As for this book, it has magical properties beyond containing the spell you cast. Right now the book acts as a physical casing for that magic. If I destroy the casing, that magic doesn't just cease to exist.
